Podcast: Adriaan Basson Discusses Findings of Investigation into Money Spent on Nkandla

Adriaan Basson, author of Zuma Exposed, was a guest on Redi Tlhabi’s Talk Radio 702 show to discuss the press briefing that took place on Sunday where Public Works Minister Thulas Nxesi admitted that R206 million has been spent on president Jacob Zuma’s Nkandla residence. The press briefing follows an investigation into the so-called “Nkandlagate” scandal. A task team has drawn up a report, but it will not be made available.

Basson expressed his concern that the press conference seem to be “designed to exonerate Zuma”, with Nxesi saying that there is no evidence that Zuma was involved in the project. Basson referred to his own investigation into the money spent on Nkandla and brought with him to the studio the letter that was sent to Zuma to update him about the project’s progress, signed by former Public Works Minister Gwen Mahlangu-Nkabinde on 5 November 2010:
